The film tells the story of two of the most famous leaders of organized crime in New York, Frank Costello (Robert De Niro) and Vito Genovese (De Niro), who are fighting for control over the streets of the city. They were once best friends, but petty jealousy and a series of betrayals set them on a path to a deadly collision that will change the mafia (and America) forever.
