The TV series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross
Aldis Hodge talks about his acting and producing the crime drama “Cross.” What he needs to know as an actor and producer, and his commitment to advancing diverse narratives through his production work. Hodge is the third actor to play Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and the 2001 sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in the 2012 film Alex Cross, which bombed at the box office and prompted Lionsgate to cancel the previously planned sequel, Double Cross.
I knew for sure that I wanted to, and I did
Although I’ve never read the source material for James Patterson’s books, I’ve heard of Alex Cross long before this TV show was made. Aldis Hodge is an up-and-coming and underrated actor who kills it as Alex Cross.
who studies victims to better understand who killed them
The series follows Cross, an award-winning homicide detective and forensic psychologist in D.C. Here, he tracks down a serial killer with his partner, John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa), who also has ties to his past.
The best thing about this show is that it’s never boring
In addition to being a detective, he’s also a family man, and they’re both great. That’s the least you want from a show, to keep you invested in the story and never get bored.
Cross does it
