Naoko Yamada’s fifth feature film
A girl who can see colors in people’s hearts joins a band with two other people. The Colors Within tells the story of Totsuko Higurashi (Sayu Suzukawa), a young girl who sees colors in the hearts of anyone she meets. She starts a band with her friends, namely Kimi Sakunaga (Akari Takaishi) and Rui Kagehira (Taisei Kido).
The Colors Within is an excellent film
Director Naoko Yamada has given us a charming film, quite funny and will make you cry during its last scene. However, it is not as perfect as Look Back (2024) or The Boy and the Heron (2023), two other anime films I have watched recently. The animation is breathtakingly beautiful and is the highlight of the film.
The songs are catchy
The vocal performances are perfect. Sayu Suzukawa is spectacular as Totsuko Higurashi. Akari Takaishi is breathtaking as Kimi Sakunaga.
The supporting cast is brilliant
Taisei Kido is great as Rui Kagehira. The Colors Within is a must-see for anime fans. Watch it on the big screen, for an even more memorable experience.
