In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. Producers are persuading both the US and British governments to allow them to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the still-recent US embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.
Keri Russell’s performance here is nothing short of a revelation
The only place off limits was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 acres) in London other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for the purpose of filming the film.

Her portrayal of American career diplomat Kate Wyler is a mesmerizing combination of strength, humor, intelligence, vulnerability and, oh my, sexiness. And while the world hasn’t yet descended to the plot chicanes, the wonderfully talented, diverse cast lets us believe that most governments are taken over by people who never emotionally escaped middle school.
Russell and company continue to work their magic
This series looks good, sounds good, feels good — it’s extremely funny and smart adult entertainment. All Netflix needs to do now is announce Season 2 and let Ms.
